Faith Formation at HNOJ 2011-2012

What's New?

First through third grade students will have an additional choice of class time this year. Sunday Faith Formation will take place from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings in order to allow our families to attend Mass following classes. Year II Confirmation students can choose from a 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. class on Sundays. Classes will meet twice monthly. Click here to learn more about the Confirmation Program at HNOJ.

What Stays the Same?

On Wednesday evenings, class times for first through eighth grade students are as follows:

5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Wednesday evenings will continue to feature our award-winning Wednesday Fine Dining from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Center. Enjoy a hot meal and check in with your children on what they are learning in Faith Formation. The entrée changes weekly, but staples such as salad, milk, lemonade, optional cheese sandwiches for finicky eaters and yummy desserts are always available; all for a free will offering!

Open Gym will run from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. We encourage students to spend some time working off their energy in Open Gym before heading to class.

Sunday School sessions will again be offered at the 8:30 a.m. and the 10:30 a.m. Mass times. Participants must be at least three years of age by September 1, 2011 and toilet trained. Click here to learn more about the Sunday School Program at HNOJ.

Year I Confirmation is divided into two semesters. The first semester consists of small groups, which meet on either Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. or Sunday nights from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. During the second semester, youth can choose to participate in the Passion Play or the Life of Jesus Study. Children and Youth Choirs

Does your child have a gift for music? If so, consider sharing that gift with the entire parish community. Both the Children and Youth Choirs rehearse on Wednesday evenings, so it’s easy to combine choir participation with faith formation classes.

Youth Choir (Grades 6-12) rehearses every Wednesday that Faith Formation classes are in session from 5:40 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. Students interested in Youth Choir should sign up for a 6:30 p.m. faith formation class so their schedule is free to attend choir rehearsal at 5:40 p.m. Remember also that Fine Dining opens at 5:15 p.m. Students involved in Youth Choir can fit in a hot meal before heading off to rehearsal followed by class.

Children’s Choir (Grades 3-5) rehearses every Wednesday that Faith Formation classes are in session from 6:20 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. Children interested in Children’s Choir should sign up for a 5 p.m. Faith Formation class so their schedule is free to attend choir rehearsal at 6:20 p.m. We strongly encourage children enrolled in choir and faith formation classes to eat an early dinner prior to coming to HNOJ for 5 p.m. classes.

2011-2012 Program Calendars:

Faith Formation Registration Fees:

$55 per student for the Sunday School program - 3 years through kindergarten (Non-parishioner fee: $75)
$85 per student in grades 1 through 8 (Non-parishioner fee: $110)
$100 per student in grades 9 and 10 (Non-parishioner fee: $150)
- There is an additional $30 fee for Confirmation retreats due at the time of retreat registrations
- There is an additional Passion Play fee of $30 per student
$85 per student for Home School materials for elementary and middle school
