Confirmation Year I

The First Year of Confirmation (typically completed in the ninth grade)

This year is divided into two semesters. The first is spent learning about the mission and message of Jesus, participating in a group service experience and taking part in a day-long retreat. For the second semester, students have two options.

Option One - Passion Play:

Passion Play 2011 Passion Play is an exciting, experiential learning model of Faith Formation taking place in the ninth grade. In 12 rehearsals, a group of roughly 150 youth put on an awe-inspiring Passion Play for our church community.

It's a life-changing experience for many: living the life of a Roman guard, a disciple, a townsperson, a scribe or a person healed by Jesus. Each cast member must decide who this person of Jesus really is.

The first eight rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings, and the long tech rehearsals are on two Sunday afternoons, as well as on Monday and Thursday evening the week of the play. Note: There are no excused absences for the 12 rehearsals.

Option Two – The Life of Jesus:

Sundays in January/February/March after Life Teen Mass

Teens will get the opportunity to get to know Christ better through studying The Life of Jesus. Lead by inspiring catechists, this study features engaging and interactive sessions centered on the “who” and the “why” of Jesus. Each student will examine more closely who Jesus the Nazarene really was, and who Jesus is for us today. A total of eight sessions will be held from January through April.  Sessions will be held Sunday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m.
