What is God's purpose for my life? Is Jesus really still relevant today? Is there any true right or wrong? How can I know?
Rediscover: is designed to do just that: to help you strengthen your connection with God, and with one another. Rediscover: invites you to find meaning and purpose in life, a sense of belonging, inner peace and strength, and true freedom through the depth and beauty of our Catholic faith, through just a few simple steps.
Connect at Holy Name of Jesus: This spring, hundreds of parishioners met in Rediscover: groups at HNOJ and read Rediscover Catholicism by Matthew Kelly, a book we offered as a gift to your family last Christmas. Now a new book has been announced in the Rediscover: Catholic Book Club series:
Time for God by Father Jacques Philippe is a 2008 international bestseller that focuses on prayer in solitude and silence to enter into an intimate and loving communion with God. The book is available from local book stores and online and costs less than $10 a copy. Learn more on the Rediscover: website.
This book is for current Rediscover: groups looking for new material, as well as for anyone interested in joining a new Rediscover: group. If you haven't yet, try joining a group and see what you may rediscover about Jesus--or even yourself--along the way. Interested in being a facilitator for a Rediscover: group? Contact Patti Watkins at 763-745-3495 or email@example.com.
Connect Online: Those burning questions you have about the Catholic faith, but never knew how or who to ask? On the Rediscover: webpage, you can find answers to many questions you may have about your faith, as well as resources to help you know God personally. You'll find more resources from Rediscover: on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. You can also download the Rediscover: App for iPhone, iPad and Android.
Connect with Others: Now there’s an easy way to share Rediscover: with others this summer. The Rediscover: Summer Share Project is simple. We’ll have business card-sized Rediscover: cards stocked in our Rediscover: kiosk at Holy Name of Jesus. One side of the card has information on the Rediscover: website and all the resources, FAQs, etc. it offers on our faith. The opposite side has a link and QR code for the Rediscover: app.
Pick up a couple while you’re here—two is all it takes. Then twice this summer, as you meet people at BBQs, at the lake, wherever you may be, share a card with someone who would like to Rediscover: their faith.
Connect with the Local Church: This fall, join Catholics here and from our surrounding parishes for the Rediscover: Faith Speakers Series. Each event is 90 minutes of engaging, multimedia-driven talks that will challenge you to ask yourself: What can I rediscover about my Catholic faith? The talks that took place this spring will be repeated in the fall at all new locations--including here at Holy Name of Jesus! Learn more. You can also listen to audio from this spring's talks on the Rediscover: website.
On October 12, 2013, bring the whole family to the 2013 Rediscover: Catholic Celebration at the St. Paul RiverCentre. Here you'll experience dynamic speakers--such as Matthew Kelly and Fr. Robert Barron--enjoy great music and worship, and learn ways to live your faith with new meaning, a sense of belonging, strength, freedom and peace. The celebration will be emceed by Jeff Cavins and also feature renowned Catholic speakers including George Weigel, Jason Evert and more.
Event programming: 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Ticket prices: Adults: $15; Youth, grades 7-10: $7; Children, grades K-6: $5
Transportation: If there is enough interest, we will be arranging transportation from Holy Name of Jesus to the RiverCentre and back for this event. Watch for more details this fall.
