Pennies for Patients
at Holy Name of Jesus School

This service project, added by the Student Council in the Spring of 2008, supports the efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The mission of the Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since 1993, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million pre-school, elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country. The funds, collected during a three-week period, benefit the Society's mission.

Students are asked to gather spare change during the three week period selected by the Student Council. In the Spring of 2008, Holy Name of Jesus School raised $4,182.36, which averages out to be about $12.19 per student.
