Introducing Our New Associate Pastor, Fr. Andrew Stueve
We are excited to announce that our new associate pastor will be Fr. Andrew Stueve. He was ordained Saturday, May 25 and will join us at Holy Name of Jesus as of June 15.
Fr. Andrew is from Hanover, Minnesota, and his home parish is Mary Queen of Peace in Rogers. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Catholic Studies, with a minor in philosophy at the University of St. Thomas. He also earned an associate degree in accounting at Hennepin Technical College and worked as an accountant for ten years before pursuing the priesthood.
While he was involved in the church as an altar server as a youth, it wasn’t until a trip to the Fatima Family Congress in Alexandria, S.D.—twelve years after he graduated high school—that he felt the Holy Spirit calling him to the priesthood.
In an interview with the Archdiocesan Office of Vocations, he said that he received much encouragement from friends to join the priesthood and discerned that God was speaking to him through their support. He also said that his faith increased abundantly as he began to pray about fears related to becoming a priest. “Prayerfully dealing with fears brings about the greatest freedom,” he said. What a message for us all!
In his recent interview with The Catholic Spirit, he said he is most looking forward to the opportunity to serve as a priest among the people, particularly through the sacraments. He enjoys music and movies from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s, and also includes family genealogy and history among his interests.
While he will officially start June 15, you may see him around here before that time visiting our community. Please join us in welcoming him to Holy Name of Jesus!
