College Summer Events

Summer College Kick-Off

Who: All incoming freshmen-seniors in college
What: An opportunity to reconnect (or connect for the first time) with your peers. We will start with a Holy Hour at 7 p.m. followed by a bonfire and snacks.
Where: HNOJ
When: Wednesday, June 5 from 7-10 p.m.
Cost: Free
No registration, just show up.

Other events will occur on the evenings of Sunday, July 7 and Wednesday, Aug. 7. Details to come, but save those dates!

Discipleship Groups

Who: All incoming college freshmen-seniors
What: A small community who meets regularly to grow in Christian friendship, prayer, and love for Jesus Christ.
When: Groups meet weekly or bi-weekly based on your availability.
How It Works:  Sign up for a time that works with your schedule. Discipleship groups will be formed according to sign-ups and announced by June 1. They will begin once school is out and continue through mid-August. Click here to sign up.

**While it is important to commit to your group, we understand you may be gone for a week or two due to vacation or another event.  Please don’t let that keep you from signing up!

Things-I-Never-Thought-to-Ask: An Evening for Incoming College Freshman

What: A special evening to help you prepare for college! Ask questions of current college students; get tips on how to make good friends; learn ways to keep your faith in college, and more!
When: Sunday, July 28 – 5:30-9:30 (Includes 5:30 Mass + dinner)

Who:  All current 8th grade and older (including college students)
What: Apologetics is defending the faith against attack by explaining it. The Apologetics Institute consists of six sessions, each addressing a particular topic, that explains the “what” and “why” of the Church’s teaching, and discusses practical ways to defend our faith to peers.
When: 6 sessions, come to one, a few or all!

Tues., Aug. 6 -9-11 a.m. – The Relationship between Faith and Science

Wed., Aug. 7 - 9-11 a.m. – The Protestant Reformation & Where We Are Today

Thurs., Aug. 8 -9-11 a.m. – The Laity & The Priesthood: Why Is There a Hierarchy?

Tues., Aug. 13 - 9-11 a.m. – Male and Female He Created Them: Equal, but Different

Wed., Aug. 14 - 9-11 a.m. – God’s Plan for Sexuality: Misconceptions and Whys Behind Church Teaching

Thurs., Aug.15 - 9-11 a.m. – Death with Dignity? What Does the Church Say about Euthanasia

Cost: $10/session or all 6 for $50 (Each session Includes a light breakfast and take-home tools)
