Winter Faith Camp
Feb. 16 - 19, 2024

What is Winter Faith Camp? It's everything that you love about camp... but in the winter! Our High School Youth will be heading to Camp Courage to fortify their faith in a new way. This year's theme is  Memento Mori which is Latin for "remember your death"; an appropriate theme to reflect on during the first week of Lent.

This camp is open to all 9th-12th graders at Holy Name of Jesus and is intended for youth who are looking to deepen their understanding of the faith and to be reignited in their relationship with Jesus. This camp will feature the power of the Sacraments, talks, outdoor winter activities and the opportunity to meet Catholic youth from all over the Twin Cities. This retreat is designed for students who are ready to go deep into their faith. It is not recommended as an entry-level retreat. If you have atteneded Extreme Faith Camp as a middle schooler, think of this as an extension of that event but for high school students.

There are 20 high school spots available for Winter Faith Camp, so make sure to register soon if you want to go! If you register after spots are filled you'll be put on a waitlist and be notified if spots open up.

When is WFC? Feb. 16-19, 2024. It is President's weekend and we do go from Friday evening to Monday afternoon. Please make sure that you have school off on that Monday when you are registering. If you cannot be there the whole weekend, we ask that you give your spot up for someone who can be there the entire time.

Where is WFC taking place? This year WFC will be at Camp Courage, 8046 83rd St NW, Maple Lake, MN 55358. We will be staying in cabins with beds, bathrooms and showers available to all.

What will we be doing at WFC? We'll have the opportunity to go to Mass every day, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, participate in small group discussion, pray in Adoration... as well as go sledding, play broomball, dodgeball, glow in the dark ultimate frisbee, crafts and laser tag just to name a few activities. You will not go away feeling bored or empty!

Who is WFC for? WFC is for all high schoolers in 9th-12th grade at HNOJ. If you are in 9th & 10th grade, this can count as one of your Confirmation retreats. This retreat is designed for students who are ready to go deep into their faith and want to expand on what they learned at Fall or Spring Retreat.

Who is in charge? WFC is run by a number of youth ministers working together to make the retreat happen. Eve Anders will be responsible for the teens of HNOJ. You can email Eve here or reach her at 763-233-0251.

What's the transportation situation? Being as we are about 45 minutes from Camp Courage, we will be relying on Parent drop-off and pick-up at Camp Courage. This will also keep the cost of the retreat down as we will not need to get a bus. Students will need to be at the retreat by 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, and be picked up at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19.

How much does WFC Cost? From now until Dec. 31, WFC is $250. This price includes a three-night stay at Camp Courage, all meals, a t-shirt, coverage for chaperones and cost of materials for the retreat. The price will increase to $275 on Jan. 1.

Registration for Winter Faith Camp 2024 is now closed.
