The Fourth Annual Genesis retreat will be held
February 23-24, 2018 for all 6th-8th graders.
This year's theme: LIFE
This retreat unfolds for the youth the incredible story of the salvation of all humanity. The youth will see that humanity was created in a perfect relationship with God and all of creation, but this relationship was broken by the first sin of Adam and Eve. Youth then discover that this plan of salvation began at the Fall and was fulfilled once and for all in Jesus Christ--and that this plan applies to them, personally. The youth will be inspired to go forth from this retreat as disciples of Jesus, knowing more fully the love God has for them, and a desire to share this great news of the salvation with their friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the Genesis Retreat?
Genesis is a two-day retreat for 6th, 7th and 8th-grade teens put on by dedicated, well-trained, high school teens. This year's Genesis retreat will be held at Holy Name of Jesus February 23-24, 2018. This is the fourth year of having this retreat opportunity at Holy Name of Jesus. The goal of this retreat is to empower middle school teens to live as disciples of Jesus Christ today. How? No gimmicks, real faith sharing, fun talks, great small groups led by awesome high schoolers, authentic relationships, and an entire weekend for and with other middle school teens.
Genesis provides another retreat experience for our youth to come to more fully enter into a relationship with the Lord and each other. The longer we, as a parish, have with each junior high teen, the more we can know each one of them individually. By having the retreat here in our community, it offers our junior high teens the opportunity to form lasting and transformative relationships with adults and high school teens from our community. Luke 18 this past fall prepared many of our youth in grades 7-12 to receive God’s Love more fully in their lives. Retreats are an extremely powerful time in our relationship with the Lord. We desire to offer a retreat experience that includes our 6th graders as they approach their Junior High and High School years.
The word, “Genesis”, means beginning. It is the first book of the Bible where we see God create us in His Image and Likeness out of Love. We see God’s desire for us to enter into a relationship of Love with Him. This retreat helps us refocus on renewing our relationship with the Lord. Genesis is a way to return to the beginning of our Faith life and focus on how the Lord is working in our lives. Throughout the weekend, youth will have an experience of this loving relationship with God.
